1. I just discovered the columns of Carolyn Hinsey, who’s been writing about soap operas for over 20 years. I love a journalism niche that is its own world that I’m outside of. In today’s “It’s Only My Opinion” column in Soap Opera Digest, Hinsey wrote about how careful soaps have to be when introducing new characters. Soap opera fans, she writes, “tune in to see the same people do the same things on our soaps every day, albeit in different and entertaining ways.”
2. A man in California has earned a Guinness World Record for the largest collection of hotel keycards, clocking in at 1,136 keycards saved from his travels since the 1990s. “One of the first cards was the Hilton Pearl River in New York,” he told Guinness World Records. “I was living in Minnesota at the time, and led a consulting team in New Jersey, so I was in the N.Y./N.J. area very often.”
He was vacationing in Tahoe when he received the news.
Thank you to Very Famous Friend Hilary for sending this our way!

4. The Local Woman…this week, she’s making a lot of TV appearances. She’s…
☆ sharing how she keeps her chickens warm in the winter in Billings, Montana
☆ a high school guidance counselor competing on The Bachelor from Hamilton, Ohio
☆ competing on Wheel of Fortune from Hodgenville, Kentucky
☆ appearing on HGTV’s House Hunters with her real estate agent in Ballston Spa, New York
5. Richard Simmons, an earth angel from what I can tell, is portrayed by Pauly Shore in this short film.
