Dear Interstate Truckers,
This week, I had a pin on Pinterest reported for copyright infringement! Life, a series of little humiliations, etc…
“Please note that you did not receive a strike under our repeat infringer policy for this report.” Pinterest has been my little blogger gurl wild west, I hope to never associate it with this kind of legalese again!
Love to all,
VF
🧡 The Very Famous Five 🧡
1. As many of us know, the proper pink bows, slinky long-necked shrugs, and chiffon-y skirts of the ballet classes of our youth have been appealing lately! On that note…
“Ballet Is a Great Workout for an Aging Body” via The New York Times
“At my age, most of the things that I do, I do well,” Ms. Kravif said. “I’m a perfectionist. But taking adult beginning ballet, I’m not particularly good at it and I don’t think I ever will be.”
2. And speaking of dancing, Very Famous Friend Viviana introduced me this week to an ‘80s documentary (on famous streaming platform Hulu) called Stripper about the first annual Strippers Convention in Las Vegas in 1983.
3. Thank you to Pinterest (see?) I learned about the “very mixed media” artwork of Bonnie Meltzer. I love the energy of stockings and silk on canvas! And she has a vivid website too.
4. In case I forget to share this next week, here is a Very Famous seasonal piece from a few years ago on a person who celebrates Halloween year-round!
A few of the girls — it’s mainly girls that I interact with in the Halloween community — but since I’ve been pregnant, a lot of the Halloween moms have been messaging me or giving me advice. Not even Halloween-related, just advice I should know. It’s been super helpful. That’s opened a lot of doors. I’ve had other girls, if I’m looking for an item, for example, I was looking for this cup that they sell at Disney World. They don’t have it at Disneyland, and obviously I’m not going to Florida. They offered to go get it for me and ship it. It was really cool.
And you know what? I just checked, and the person I spoke with — Cole — is now gone from Instagram! The internet..like dust in the wind…
5. Alrighty! The Local Woman. This week, she’s active!
☆ warming the “hearts and stomachs of Murfreesboro's unhoused community” in Murfreesboro, Tennessee
☆ showcasing her equine therapy ranch in Lake Mills, Wisconsin
☆ sharing her passion for silversmithing in Homer, Alaska
☆ owning and operating the local newspaper by herself [editor’s emphasis] in Madison, Nebraska
Ok, personal note, I am literally so thrilled and amped up after reading about this last headline, I think I’ll skip my afternoon nap today…
